Alan Burgin reports: Last Friday evening saw three of us from Hunts AC on the start line of the Bury St Edmunds round of this year’s Friday 5 race series. The 5 mile course is a real test of all round running ability, the first mile is open grassland in Nowton Park with plenty of twists and turns, then there is a short woodland section before getting onto local roads. A long uphill climb leads to a gravel farm track and then back on the roads and downhill to the park. On paper it is not a fast course but the winner, John Millar from Ipswich Harriers completed the race in 25:39, a new course record. Our three club runners were Jim Stocker; 3rd MV70 in 40:05. Pauline Stocker, 1st FV65 in 44:00, (Pauline was very pleased indeed with her run and the trophy she was presented with). Alan Burgin 7th MV70 46:55.
