Track and Field Competitions

Below is a list of Competitions that Hunts AC participate in.

LEAGUE MATCHES

Hunts AC compete in two Summer leagues – East Anglian and Southern.
These are team competitions with Managers that organise the squad. Athletes score points for the events they participate in.

EAST ANGLIAN LEAGUE (EAL)

Four Sundays over the Summer (3 league matches and the Final).
Most Track & Field events for U13’s up to Seniors.
80m, 600m, Long Jump and Shot Put available for U11’s.

Team managers will email athletes in their age group prior to the first match.

U13, U15, U17: Max 3 events plus 4x100m relay
U20: Max 4 events plus 4x100m relay
Seniors: Unlimited events

SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE (SAL)

4 Matches over the Summer (2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays).
Men and Women. U17’s, U20’s and Seniors.
All Track & Field disciplines including Steeplechase.
SENIORS- No limit to number of events you do.
U17s- Maximum 3 events (plus relay)
U20s- Maximum 4 events (plus relay)
Alternates 3k and 5k for Men and Women. Good racing opportunity for athletes who train with the ‘Road runners’ /enjoy longer distances.

Andy will engage with athletes prior to the first match. We also have a team SAL Facebook page

HUNTS AC CLUB CHAMPS

Inter club championship. Athletes compete against fellow club members in their age group.

Running, Jumping, Throwing events for all ages. Several Sundays over the summer.
Gold, silver and bronze medals awarded at the end of the season.
Annual club championship plaques awarded to highest‐scoring athlete in each age group.

As well as earning points from placings in club championships, the following bonus points can be earned towards club championship plaques.

League participation – 10 points per meet
County champs – 10 points per event
Eastern County Champs – 10 points for participating
Tie breaker – number of personal bests set in calendar year up to the end of September

Ideal opportunity to try new events.

CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITIONS

CAMBS COUNTY CHAMPS

U13’s up to Seniors.

All Track & Field events.
Every athlete is encouraged to participate in the County Championships.

EASTERN CHAMPS

U13’s up to Seniors.

Most Track & Field events.
Covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire

SOUTH OF ENGLAND CHAMPS

Athletes need to achieve a qualification standard to enter this competition.

ENGLAND ATHLETICS NATIONAL CHAMPS

Athletes need to achieve a qualification standard to enter this competition.

SCHOOLS CHAMPS

Track and Field competitions starting at District level. Athletes compete for their school with the aim to represent their County.

Year 7, Year 8-Year 13

District Schools: Schools advertise this competition. Athletes must inform the school if they wish to participate.

County Schools

Anglian Schools

English Schools: Athletes have to meet a qualification standard to guarantee selection for this.

OPEN MEETS

Track races are seeded by time. Therefore you run against athletes at a similar standard to yourself = great opportunity to get a new PB!

COUNTY DEVELOPMENT OPENS

U11+

Three Wednesdays over the Summer at our St Ives track.
Open to all.
Track & Field events on offer.

Organised by Cambs County association. Medals awarded for some events (part of County champs).

OPEN MEETS WE RECOMMEND

There are many open meets across the Country over the Summer season. Usually evenings on weekdays and some weekends.

Below are meets our athletes regularly compete in:

Kettering
Corby
Watford and Milton Keynes PB classic: Especially good for Middle distance events
Peterborough
Nuneaton

SPORTSHALL

Series of indoor events based on the outdoor disciplines. Individual points added to overall team score.

U11-U15

Cambs Sportshall event in November. Athletes that score well in each event/ impress the County may be selected to represent Cambridgeshire at the Regional final in January.

Our younger athletes training for multi- events will cover this during winter sessions.

Events:
2 lap race, 4 lap race, 6 lap race, Shot put, Standing long jump, Standing triple jump, Vertical jump, Speed bounce, Parlouf relay, 4×2 lap relay and circuit relay
(U11’s- Balance test, High stepper, Chest push and Soft javelin).

INDOOR COMPETITIONS

All ages

Usually over the winter months.
60m, 60mH, 200m, 400m, 800, 1500, Mile, 3K
All jumps and shot put (no long throws)

200m track- good experience

Lee Valley, Sheffield

Open meets and Championship events available.
Pentathlon for youngsters
