News/Report: On a cool, breezy evening, the first of the three county development meets took place with Hunts AC athletes out in force. Leading the way with two wins was Dennis Penny-Toure who climbed up to 17th in the national Under 13 Boys rankings with an emphatic personal best of 13.38 sec to win the 75 metre hurdles race. Interestingly, his second victory came in the long jump where he also currently ranks 17th in the country. Another up-and-coming sprinter/hurdler/jumper, Anya Rodriguez, smashed her best in the Under 13 Girls 70m hurdles by over seven tenths of a second, winning with a time of 13.04 secs. Over the longer distances, James Downing made his debut in the 3000 metres and ran well in conditions that were getting windier as the race went on. He finished as first Under 15 Boy with his time of 10:05.91 ranking him 34th in the nation. Also out on the track, 15-year-old George Allen knock a massive 11 seconds from his best to comfortably win his 800m race while newcomer Katie Scholey won Race 6 by five seconds. The sprinters showed good form too with Ian McLaren and Lucy Readman both winning their 100m races. In the longer sprint race, Matt Leadbitter led all the way in the top 200m race while 14-year-old Lewis Hammond showed great potential with his victory in the 3rd 200m event, running to a personal best to add to his 100m best set earlier in the meet. In the younger age groups, Sabrina Hunt picked up the win the Under 11 Girls long jump.
